Ingredients
Ingredients scaled to 1 serving
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- water
- 2 tsp olive oil
- sauteed onion and tomato mixture
- cheese
- mixed vegetables
- rock salt
- pepper
- oregano
- chili flakes
- butter
- 1 salt
Preparation
- Step 1In a bowl add 1 cup whole wheat flour. Add a little bit of water to make a dough. Add 2 tsp olive oil and knead for another minute or so. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and set aside for 15 minutes.
- Step 2Meanwhile cut the vegetables for the toppings.
- Step 3Roll the dough to make a flatbread.
- Step 4Take a plate and apply some butter or olive oil all over it evenly. Place the pizza base into it carefully. Take a fork and prick it all over the surface.
- Step 5Apply the smooth grinded mixture of sauteed onions and tomatoes on the base. Sprinkle some cheese over it. Place your favorite toppings: onions, tomatoes, capsicum, mushrooms, paneer, whatever you like. Sprinkle some more cheese. Season with rock salt, pepper, oregano and chili flakes. Apply some melted butter onto the sides.
- Step 6Take a large kadai. Pour about a glass full of salt into it. Place a small bowl so that the pizza plate is 2 to 3 inches above the salt level. Place the pizza plate on the bowl. Cover the kadai and let it cook on high flame for about 20 minutes. Check in between.
- Step 7Your pizza is ready.
Notes
- The salt in the kadai can be reused again and again to make pizzas. Traditionally sand was used instead of salt.
